Frequently asked questions

How do I start recording?

  1. Open ScreenCam and choose your resolution, frame rate, app-audio volume, and microphone volume.
  2. Tap Start and confirm ScreenCam in the iOS screen-recording prompt.
  3. A small recording indicator appears; switch to the app you want to record and talk through it.
  4. Stop from the indicator or Control Center, then return to ScreenCam — finished recordings import automatically.
  5. Crop the frame, redo face or voice for any selected range, add focus zoom, and blur sensitive details before export. Add a visual PDF only if the handoff needs steps.

How do the core editing tools work?

  1. Open a project and use Crop & Reframe to choose the output ratio and remove distracting edges.
  2. Select a timeline clip or use Fix Range to isolate exact start and end points.
  3. Tap Face / Voice Take to record Face + Voice or Voice Only while following that range's playback. The original screen action remains unchanged.
  4. Tap Focus Zoom, choose 1.5×, 2×, or 3×, then place the target on the full source frame.
  5. Tap Sensitive Blur, add one or more regions over private details, and choose blur, pixelation, or black. You can apply each region to the whole clip or a specific time window.
  6. Export the MP4. If useful, mark key frames in Visual Guide and generate a local PDF from the delivered video.

Why does part of my recording show a black screen?

Content protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM), such as some streaming or paid video apps, cannot be captured by any screen recorder on iOS. Apple blocks recording of that area, so it appears black. This is a platform limitation, not a bug in ScreenCam.

Why is there no sound from the app I recorded?

ScreenCam records the app's own audio (app audio) alongside your microphone, each on a separate track with its own volume. If an app's sound is missing, check that app audio is turned on and its volume is up before you start. Some apps and DRM-protected content block audio capture depending on the app and your iOS version — that is a platform limitation.

Why doesn't my facecam appear while I'm recording?

While a broadcast is running, iOS limits camera access for the broadcast extension. After the screen recording returns to ScreenCam, select a range and use Face / Voice Take to record a synchronized presenter layer. You can also choose Voice Only. The finished layer is composited during export.

How do I hide a name, message, account, or ID?

Select the clip and tap Sensitive Blur. Add and position as many regions as needed, choose blur, pixelation, or solid black, then decide whether each region covers the entire clip or only a chosen time window. Preview and final export use the same placement.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

  • Free: unlimited-length recording and export at up to 720p / 30 fps, with crop, face/voice punch-in, focus zoom, sensitive-content blur, optional visual PDF, and essential editing. No watermark, no time limit.
  • Pro: 1080p and 2K recording and export, 50/60 fps, higher bitrates, and HDR export.

Pro is available as a Monthly or Yearly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase.

Where are my recordings saved?

All recording and compositing happen on your device. Finished exports are saved to your own Photos library, the Files app, or anywhere you share them. ScreenCam does not upload your recordings anywhere.

I was interrupted while recording. Is my recording lost?

No. Interrupted sessions stay safe under Pending in the Projects list for one-tap recovery. Open Projects, tap the pending recording, and import it to keep editing.

Which devices and iOS versions are supported?

ScreenCam requires iOS 17 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open Settings, tap the ScreenCam Pro card at the top, then tap Restore Purchases below the purchase button. Your Apple ID is used to restore prior purchases.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app from your device to remove local ScreenCam data. Apple retains purchase records for your Apple ID so purchases can be restored.
