This Privacy Policy explains how ScreenCam handles user information.
1. Local-first recording data
ScreenCam stores your work locally on your device, including:
- Language, appearance, and recording preferences
- Projects and their recorded screen segments
- Optional facecam clips (your camera) captured alongside the screen
- Microphone narration takes
- Edit decisions (trim, facecam shape, position, and size) and preview cache
ScreenCam does not require an account. All recording, compositing, and final export happen on-device and work offline. Exported videos are saved to your own Photos library.
2. No tracking or advertising
ScreenCam does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics trackers, or cross-app tracking. ScreenCam does not sell or share personal data with third parties.
3. StoreKit and purchases
- ScreenCam uses Apple StoreKit for optional in-app purchases: a Monthly or Yearly auto-renewable subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase
- Billing, refunds, cancellation, and purchase history are handled by Apple
- ScreenCam stores a local entitlement cache on the device so it can show membership status quickly and restore access after launch
- ScreenCam reads only the entitlement status needed to unlock Pro features; it does not have access to your Apple ID password, payment method, or full Apple transaction history
4. Device permissions
ScreenCam uses the following device permissions, each for a specific on-device purpose:
- Camera — used to record an optional facecam (your face) as an overlay on the screen recording. Camera frames are processed and recorded locally and are not uploaded or transmitted.
- Microphone — used to record your narration alongside the screen. Audio is captured and encoded locally.
- Photos (Add Only) — used to save your finished, composited MP4 exports to your Photo Library. ScreenCam only writes files; it does not read or browse your existing photos.
- Screen Recording (ReplayKit Broadcast Extension) — used to capture the screen through Apple's standard system broadcast. The broadcast runs in a separate Apple-managed process; ScreenCam receives the recorded segments locally and never transmits them.
ScreenCam does not request location, contacts, health, Bluetooth, full photo-library read, or background-tracking permissions.
5. Data deletion
You can remove local ScreenCam data by deleting the app from your device. Apple platform behavior may retain purchase records for your Apple ID so purchases can be restored.
6. Children's privacy
ScreenCam is a general-purpose creator tool and is not directed at children. The app does not require an account and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It includes no chat, no public posting, no user-generated content sharing, no advertising, and no tracking.
