SpeedPlayer

Last Updated: 2026-04-23

SpeedPlayer is a local-first playback tool that can be used in family learning and practice settings.

Recommended use

  • SpeedPlayer can be used in family learning and practice settings when guided by a parent, teacher, or coach
  • The app is designed for loading a family's own local video and audio files for replay and practice

What SpeedPlayer does not include in normal local playback

  • No ads
  • No account creation
  • No public social feed or chat
  • No in-app web browser for general browsing
  • No automatic upload of local files

Where to find Parental Controls

Parental Controls is an optional in-app setting and is off by default until an adult turns it on.

  • On iPhone and iPad: open the Settings tab and enable Parental Controls
  • On macOS: open the Settings screen and enable Parental Controls

How to test the parent check

After Parental Controls is enabled, SpeedPlayer shows a simple math prompt before allowing:

  • opening the Membership / purchase screen
  • opening the Home screen direct media link action on iPhone, iPad, or macOS
  • opening external legal or support links from Settings
  • turning Parental Controls back off

This check is a lightweight parent gate intended to reduce accidental child actions. It is not identity verification.

Network behavior

  • Local playback is intended to stay local to the device
  • Network access should happen only when an adult chooses a direct media link, opens an external support or legal link, or uses App Store purchase features
