This page explains how HanziStroke is positioned for child and family use in the current release.

1. Intended use

  • HanziStroke is used for Chinese character learning, stroke-order practice, and early literacy support
  • It can be used by children with guidance from a parent, guardian, or teacher
  • It can also be used by older students and adult beginners learning Chinese characters

2. Product choices relevant to families

  • Core learning content works without account registration
  • The main learning flow does not depend on public posting, public chat, or user-generated content sharing
  • Most study content is available locally on the device after the app is installed

3. Parental controls

  • HanziStroke includes optional parental controls
  • If those controls are enabled, the app may show a simple addition challenge before certain purchase-related or protected actions, such as entering premium purchase flows or changing parental-control state
  • This mechanism is meant to reduce accidental taps by children, not to serve as formal age verification

4. Network and external links

  • Core study content and practice collections are local-first
  • Network use mainly happens when Apple services are needed for product loading, purchase, restore, or subscription management
  • Some support, legal, or website links may open outside the app if the user chooses them

5. What parents and guardians should know

  • Younger children may still need supervision during use
  • Families should review premium, support, and external-link areas before handing a device to a child for unsupervised use
  • Final age rating and storefront classification follow Apple's own review process
