HanziStroke

Last Updated: 2026-05-10

HanziStroke is a local-first Chinese character learning app for family learning, classroom support, and beginner Chinese learners. It helps users move from seeing a character to writing it with the correct stroke order and structure.

Core direction

  • Show stroke order step by step instead of only displaying a static character
  • Combine demo, tracing, and guided writing practice so learners can watch first and then write
  • Keep learning references close to practice, including character details, words, idioms, xiehouyu, and pinyin basics
  • Support repeated home or classroom practice with local collections, optional premium access, and optional parental controls

Local-first learning

  • Core learning data and most audio resources are bundled inside the app for offline study
  • Practice collections and app preferences stay on the device by default
  • No account is required for the core learning flow
  • The app does not depend on a public feed, public chat, or user-generated sharing for normal use

What HanziStroke includes today

  • Stroke-order animation and character-detail learning
  • Guided writing practice and demo-first practice modes
  • Basic literacy units and basic-strokes reference
  • Word and idiom lookup, word chain, idiom chain, and xiehouyu browsing

Product boundary

  • HanziStroke is not a cloud classroom or live tutoring platform
  • HanziStroke is not a social network or public content community
  • HanziStroke is not an account-based content platform
  • HanziStroke is designed around local study sessions, repeat practice, and family-friendly learning
