This page explains how MathBoard is positioned for child and family use in the current release.
1. Intended use
- MathBoard is an iPhone and iPad mental-arithmetic worksheet and handwriting whiteboard app for young children, used for daily arithmetic practice
- A parent, guardian, or teacher generates worksheets and reviews results; the child solves problems by hand on the whiteboard
- It is suitable for pre-school transition and grades one and two
2. Product choices relevant to families
- Core worksheet generation, whiteboard practice, grading, and wrong-answer review work without account registration
- The app has no public posting, public chat, or user-generated content sharing
- All worksheet generation, grading, drafts, and review happen locally on the device after the app is installed
3. Parental controls
- MathBoard does not require an account and has no social features
- The app includes a built-in parent gate: an arithmetic challenge that must be solved before the parent-only Settings area, in-app purchases, and external links can be opened. Children cannot reach settings, purchases, or outbound links without passing the gate, in line with the App Store Kids category (Guideline 1.3)
- Families can also use Apple's built-in controls on top of the in-app gate:
- Screen Time app limits and content restrictions
- Ask to Buy for App Store purchases
- App Store family-sharing controls
- MathBoard itself does not collect data from children
4. Network and external links
- Worksheet generation, whiteboard drafts, grading, wrong-answer review, and PDF export are local-first and work offline
- Network use mainly happens when Apple services are needed for purchase, restore, or purchase management
- Settings links to this site's Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Support pages
5. Purchases
- MathBoard may offer optional Pro purchases processed by Apple through StoreKit: a Monthly or Yearly auto-renewable subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase
- Pro includes PDF export (question/answer/wrong-answer walkthrough editions), full step-by-step explanations with vertical and visual models, wrong-question drills with per-skill mastery, learning reports (weekly/monthly trends and weak areas), and batch generation with unlimited worksheets
- Billing, refunds, and purchase management are handled by Apple
- The app only reads whether Pro is active; it does not receive payment details
6. Data and privacy
- MathBoard collects no personal data, includes no advertising or analytics SDKs, and performs no tracking
- Worksheets, attempts, wrong answers, settings, and PencilKit whiteboard drafts are stored only on the device
